* FTP is not set up by default for Swift Systems Customers. You must request this when you set up the account. If you need to request this send an e-mail to support@swiftsystems.com. FTP services will use the same username and password your administrator was assigned when the account was created. FTP is not set up by default because of the limited security it provides in protecting your username and password. The preffered method at this time is to use Front Page. Front Page does allow you to upload files of all kinds.
To use FTP to upload files you can go to a dos prompt (win95, 98, and NT) and type "ftp ftp.yourdomain.com" net or org (without the quotes) and enter the username and password when requested. After login type put then you will be prompted for the local file. If the local file you wanted to upload were c:\afile.aspx then that is what you would type at the "local-file" prompt. Next you will be asked for the remote file, you should put the name of the file as you wish it to appear. example: afile.aspx (notice that you do not use a drive letter here. These files will be in your web site root directory.
* Please note that the default web page on your site should be named default.aspx unless you have asked Swift Systems to change that for you.
For easier use of FTP or for managing directories on your site Swift Systems suggests using a GUI FTP Client like Cute FTP available for trial at http://cuteftp.com/Cuteftp/index HTML or www.cuteftp.com
